The Chamber of Commerce Uruguay-USA, founded in 1934, is an independent, non-profit organization whose main objective is the promotion of trade and investment between the United States and Uruguay. At present, the Chamber has more than 100 members representing the American business presence in Uruguay. AmCham Uruguay is one of the largest bi-national Chambers in Uruguay and it is exclusively financed via member contributions At the international level, it is affiliated to the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (AACCLA). This Institution which was founded in 1967, has headquarters in Washington DC and is the umbrella organization for twenty-three American Chambers of Commerce organized and operating in twenty-one nations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Objectives
The Chamber objectives are:
- To promote trade, investment, industrial and commercial activities between the United States and Uruguay.
- To contribute through its activities to the economic development of Uruguay and its citizens.
- To develop and strengthen relations among its members and other public or private institutions, and among those who operate in the areas of interest to the Chamber.
